-
5 to 8 inch wheel of Brie Cheese
-
1 (12" x 18") sheet of puff
pastry
-
1 egg, beaten
-
1 jar Deb's
Kahlua Kream Coffee Jelly
Using a
warmed sharp knife cut the wheel of Brie in half horizontally and
separate the top half of the wheel from the bottom half. Spread Kahlua
Kream Coffee Jelly on the bottom half. Replace the top half of the Brie
and apply pressure to secure the jelly. Working on a well-floured
surface, roll out the puff pastry so that it will fully cover the Brie.
Place the Brie in the middle of the puff pastry and fold the excess
pastry around the wheel. Brush the entire top and sides of the Brie
with the egg and place the Brie on a sheet pan lined with parchment
paper. Bake for 20 to 30 minutes in 400 oven or until the pastry begins
to turn golden brown, then turn the temperature down to 325 degrees F
and bake for another 20 minutes. Serve with crackers.
** A simpler
version of this hors d'oeuvre may also be prepared by eliminating the
pastry and just wrapping the wheel of Brie completely in foil and
placing on a baking sheet. Heat in 350 oven for approx. 20 min. until
cheese is gooey. Warm Kahlua Kream Coffee Jelly about 15 sec. in
microwave and pour over top of the cheese. Serve with crackers.
ADDITIONAL
TIPS: For a new twist on something old, try spreading Kahlua Kream
Coffee Jelly in between the layers of a 2 tier chocolate cake. Top with
Mocha flavored frosting.
